Do you wish to assign limited Circulation privileges to non-Library staff?

This can be achieved by adding the user/s to the System Group 'Library Circulation Users'.  If fewer Circulation capabilities are required for student use, please refer to the 'Self service' feature documentation.

  • This gives limited Circulation rights to the user/s in the members of this system group. The 'Library Circulation only user' cannot override any circulation blocks, make reservations or cancel reservations for others.  They may Renew loans for others or make their own reservations through the OPAC and cancel them through My details.
  •  You may wish to setup either:
    • a new username e.g. 'Library Circulation Station' if used by multiple staff to issue loans:
      • Create the new user using the Solution link to add new users manually
      • go to Step 1 below
    • an existing user (either staff or students) who is already in Infiniti with 'Library users' system group privileges
      • go to Step 1 below

Note:  Do not change or add any System Groups, System Roles or System Privileges - these are already setup.

Step 1:

To add a User as a member of the System Group 'Library Circulation Users':
  1. Click on the Settings cog (far right of charcoal Infiniti header)
  2. Click on Access (left hand menu)
  3. Click on the member icon of the 'Library Circulation Users'
  4. Search for the user
  5. Click on username/s in the left hand list to
  6. Add to the right hand column
  7. Click the Save Changes button to apply the system privileges.
  8. Those users selected will have Circulation added to their user record
  9. Note:  These users must also belong to the 'Library Users' system group

Step 2:

Ensure the user is in either an Academic Level (actual students only) or a Library Group (e.g. Staff, Monitors, etc.)

If the Library Group already exists use:

  • Configure >
  • Access Control >
  • Library groups >
  • Click on the Member icon for the group

Add the member to the group:

Search for the member

  1. Select the member and move it to the right hand list
  2. Save changes e.g.

Check the Sites seen by that group:
  • Configure
  • Library
  • Sites
  • Drop down the black arrow beside the Site required
  • Turn on the group/s that have access to this Site e.g. Library group 'Vartmonitor'

Create a Circulation Right for the 'Vartmonitor ' group to allow OPAC access
  • Configure
  •  Access control
  • Circulation Rights
  • click on +Add Circulation Right
  • Add the Circulation Right name and Save
  • drop down the arrow at right
  • click the Vartmonitor Group ON
  • Click all sections ON that you wish to appear in the OPAC search for Vartmonitor logon

Now when that User logins:

  • they will have OPAC searching and Circulation (i.e. Issues and Returns)
  • they cannot override any access or limits blocks in Issues but are able to renew loans to the renewal limit

Note: The Library Circulation Users System Group (as well as other System Groups) may be added to a User Record directly: Manual Patron Registration OR they may be imported via an Ad Hoc Groups Import
