All patrons have a unique username that allows them to access Infiniti or LibPaths. To facilitate single sign on (SSO) each patron username must match their network ID. Username alignment allows you or your IT Manager to align a patron's current username with the patron's network logon. This is an interactive facility which is run as required by you or your IT Manager.

Go to: Settings> Users > Import

Preparing Import Data

You must prepare a CSV input data file (see sample below) from a suitable source. Check the columns in the CSV file match the columns below.

Tip: To prepare a CSV input data file you can export a file containing all users, match usernames in this file with network IDs from a local source (such as a student administration system or a network directory), and remove all columns except the username and new username columns to produce the 2-column CSV import file required for the alignment process. Note: Columns headings must be removed from the CSV file.

Field Descriptions

  1. Username - is the mandatory matching key for changing a current username to a new value.
  2. New username -  is the mandatory new value that will replace the current username. It must be identical to the person's network logon to facilitate SSO.

Go to: Settings> Users > Import

Once you have your Excel file saved in CSV format you are ready to follow the next steps to import your users:

  1. Choose to change existing usernames.
  2. Clickto browse your computer network to find your CSV file. Click open.
  3. your data to ensure it is aligned under the correct headings. If you need to make a change to the csv file, cancel, make the changes and repeat this step.
  4. the file.
  5. The screen will give you a message to say your import is successful.

Note:  Only existing persons can have their username aligned. This process is unsuitable for adding new users.

Change Username Example

The image below shows a sample of the data requirements for realigning persons with their respective network login IDs. The recommended staring point is to login and navigate to Reports > Users > Users (Export) > Show filters > select Any System Group > Search > export result to Excel. The export file will contain a column called username plus many columns of data not required for the subsequent import file - these must be removed before the import is attempted. Your IT support staff must match each person's current username with the person's corresponding network ID. The resultant CSV import file will contain just two (2) columns.

Note: The new username must be unique and can be a number, name, email address, or other unique person identifier. Regular alphabetic, numeric and special characters only are recommended for usernames.

Note: Best practice is to create separate import files, one for students and one for teachers.
