The viewing and also borrowing rights for a User hinge on the group in which that user resides - Academic year levels for students, Library Groups for all non-student users.  eg. Staff, Year 12

1. If a catalogue record has been added to Infiniti and it does not appear in an Opac search, there are a number of areas to check.

  • Does the Bib record have a Copy added yet?  Bib records with no copies do not appear in the Opac but are always found from the Catalogue search box.
  • Does the barcode copy have a status hidden from the Opac?  Statuses can be configured to be visible/hidden from an Opac search.
  • See Configure >Library > Statuses > edit a status to change Opac visibility and/or Availability.

2. If these two basic areas check positive then follow on with some further checks for the Access to resources afforded by the User's library membership.

3. Remember that any search is conducted within the scope of the rights given by the Username logged in to Infiniti on that particular computer/device.

4. Further points to check :

  • Configure > Access Control > Library groups > to ensure that all relevant Sites are turned on for all relevant groups.
  • Configure > Access Control > Academic Year levels  to ensure that all relevant Sites are turned on for all relevant Academic levels
  • Configure > Access control > Library groups > edit members and check that all members are actually members of the group (No group =  no viewing or borrowing), so move relevant members into the group.
  • Configure > Access control > Circulation Rights > Circ rule > Is the relevant group  turned ON so anyone in that group can find and also borrow resources from this Section

5. Ask the user to login again and try a search for the relevant resource.

Tip:  Access to resources is a combination of Site/Section through Academic level/Groups and the Circ Rights.
